FAQs

1. How can I join RESBC?

If you are a retiree (or a spouse of a deceased retiree) of Santa Barbara County, you can join RESBC by completing a RESBC Membership/Deduction Authorization form. At the time of your retirement conference at SBCERS, your Retirement Representative will inquire as to whether you wish to join RESBC. Alternatively, you may join RESBC at any time after retirement by completing the membership form. The form is available from SBCERS, 3916 State Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93105, [805-568-2940]

2. How much are the RESBC membership dues?

Membership in RESBC is $2.50 monthly. Dues are deducted on a monthly basis from the member’s Santa Barbara County pension payment upon the retiree’s written authorization.

3. What are the benefits of belonging to RESBC?

Membership benefits include:

  • 4 issues of the RESBC newsletter per year
  • 4 subsidized luncheon general membership meetings per year held at various locations within Santa Barbara county (includes special December holiday luncheon)
  • Opportunity to participate in RESBC subsidized daytrips and special events
  • Special RESBC informational presentations on critical issues such as health insurance, pension litigation, pension-related court decisions, etc
  • Opportunity to socialize and have fun with former co-workers and friends

4. How can I revoke my RESBC membership?

Membership can be terminated by submitting to SBCERS a written request to discontinue your RESBC membership deduction.

5. What is the make-up of the RESBC leadership?

The RESBC Board of Directors is composed of an elected President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer and 5 appointed Directors at Large. Each Board director is a member of RESBC.
